The Ohio Arts Council (OAC) has a long-established artist-in-residence program that brings professional authors into Ohio classrooms.
OAC works with schools throughout Ohio to help them plan and complete their applications for the program. OAC also provides training and support for the authors to help them, along with teachers and students, make the most of the residency experience. While in residence, the author works with several classes on a daily basis and is available to meet with the rest of the school, parents, and the community at additional sessions.
In partnership with OAC, the Ohio Reading Road Trip is providing 20 scholarships to help fund two-week author residencies for designated low-wealth schools. However, any school can apply for resident author opportunities through the Ohio Arts Council. For more information about this ongoing program, please contact OAC.
Throughout 2004, we'll post more information about the authors, students and schools in the OAC Resident Author Program. Be sure to check back often!
